Chrome Extension
Use Page Buddy in the TTS Buddy Chrome extension to turn the page you are reading into natural audio or clean Markdown without leaving the browser.
Audio generated by Page Buddy is saved to Listen Link, where you can monitor processing, replay completed audio, share it, or download it for offline listening.
Installation
- Visit TTS Buddy on the Chrome Web Store
- Click Add to Chrome
- Confirm the installation
- Pin the TTS Buddy icon to your browser toolbar for quick access
Page Buddy: Convert a Page to Audio
- Open the article or page you want to listen to
- Click the TTS Buddy toolbar icon
- Choose Convert page to audio
- Keep browsing while the page is queued and processed
- Open Dashboard -> Listen Link to monitor progress and play the finished audio
The extension extracts the main readable content and skips common navigation, advertising, and footer elements. Page conversions can continue after the popup closes.
Pages can contain up to 500,000 characters. If extraction is incomplete, try a shorter page or paste the relevant text into the main TTS Buddy dashboard.
Copy Clean Markdown
- Open the page you want to capture
- Click the TTS Buddy toolbar icon
- Choose Copy as Markdown
- Paste the cleaned content into your notes, documentation, or editor
This is useful for research, citations, study notes, and preparing readable source material for other tools.
Listen Link
Every page-to-audio task appears in Listen Link. Pending cards show queue and processing status; completed cards include playback, download, sharing, source, and deletion controls.
See the Dashboard Guide for status, retry, retention, and storage details.
Accessibility
Page-to-audio workflows can reduce screen fatigue and make long articles easier to follow for people with ADHD, dyslexia, visual impairments, or other reading difficulties. Playback speed and voice preferences can be adjusted from the dashboard.
Supported Pages
The extension works best with text-heavy pages such as:
- News and magazine articles
- Blogs and newsletters
- Wikipedia and reference pages
- Academic papers and documentation
- Public or signed-in pages already open in your browser
Some paywalled or heavily scripted sites may limit extraction. In those cases, copy the relevant text into the TTS Buddy dashboard.
Troubleshooting
The extension icon is unavailable
Make sure you are signed in to TTS Buddy, reload the page, and open the extension again.
Page content is incomplete
Wait for the page to finish loading, then retry. For complex pages, copy the specific passage into the dashboard.
Audio is not generating
Check your connection and open Listen Link to see whether the task is queued, processing, failed, or timed out. Failed tasks can be retried from the pending-task card.
