For full details on Listen Link fields and usage, see the Dashboard Guide.
Web Buddy Voice Settings
You can configure a separate voice and speed specifically for Web Buddy in Dashboard → Settings. This lets you use a different voice for Web Buddy than for the main Text-to-Speech page.
See Dashboard Guide — Settings for details.
Supported Sites
The extension works on most websites including:
- News articles (NYT, BBC, CNN, etc.)
- Blog posts (Medium, Substack, WordPress)
- Wikipedia articles
- Academic papers and research
- Documentation sites
- Social media posts
- Any text-heavy webpage
Some sites with paywalls or heavy JavaScript rendering may have limited text extraction. For those, try copying the text and pasting directly into the TTS Buddy dashboard.
Troubleshooting
Extension icon is grayed out
Make sure you're signed in to TTS Buddy. Click the icon and sign in if prompted.
Text not extracting properly
Try selecting the specific text you want and using the right-click option instead.
Voice chat not responding
Check your microphone permissions in Chrome. Go to chrome://settings/content/microphone and ensure TTS Buddy has access.
Audio not generating
Check your internet connection and ensure you haven't exceeded your plan's usage limits. Web Buddy has its own quotas (Web Buddy Requests and Web Buddy Minutes) separate from the main TTS quotas — check your Billing page for current usage.
